2 1/2 weeks old... {Durham Region Newborn Photographer}

There are a few things I would like to tell you about this sweet little peanut: She is two and a half weeks old, she has the loveliest parents and she actually smiles! I don't think I have ever seen a baby this little smile. Not just a 'I have gas' kind of smile (I have seen plenty of those!), but a 'hi mommy and daddy, I am a happy' kind of smile. It was just so darn cute.

There is something else you should know about her: She apparently preferred to be awake for most of her photo session! I guess she didn't want to miss out on anything :) But we did manage to get a few sleepy shots in the 5 minutes that she did sleep!

Toddlers are a funny little breed...you never know from one minute to the next what you will get with them! Most toddlers don't have a whole lot of patience for posing for photos, but that's ok, that doesn't really bother me. By choice, I usually only book one session in a day so that I never feel rushed to get a session finished. This way children can get comfortable at their own pace.

I was a little worried however with this session. I wasn't really sure little miss P was going to come around! She decided from the first minute she arrived that she wasn't going to willingly participate in our little session. She is spunky and strong willed and was determined that she didn't want to have her picture taken. Patience is the key with children of all ages and given enough time, blueberry 'cookies' (scones), a bit of play time and dress up time...she was ready to have fun! We even got a sweet tender moment with her baby sister.

This little boy has the kind of smile that just lights up the room! That is when you could see it behind the fingers he liked to chew on :) What a pleasure it was to meet baby A and his family! Many apologies to A 's mom and dad for the delay in posting your sneak peeks...Thank you so much for your patience.

Watching her grow... {Durham Region Baby Photographer}

I love it when clients come back throughout their baby's first year with the Watch me Grow plan. It's amazing to see how much these little babes have changed since their newborn photos.

Baby J has been to see me a few times now. She is just a bundle of cuteness...but she does make us work hard for her photos! Her newborn photo on the baby scale is still one of the most popular and commented on photos in my studio.

Why? {Whitby Baby Photographer}

Those of you with older children, do you remember the 'why?' stage? I remember it clearly. I also remember eventually resorting to the answer 'just because!' (something pre-kids I swore I would never do!) To this day it always amazes me how many times a child can ask why about the same thing no matter how many different ways you have already answered their questions.

This little guy is no exception to this stage and it was quite funny how many times he asked the question 'why' during our session. It was great! He was happy and inquisitive, and yes, like all 2 year olds it took a bit of bargaining to get him to sit still (relatively!) for a few photos!! I will take all the why's in the world over a toddler kicking and screaming!

Cake Smash! {Durham Region Baby Photographer}

Meet baby B. I was assured by his mother that we would be scraping cake off the walls, that he would dig right into the cake...but in true form, kids like to behave differently in the presence of other people LOL! It took a little coaxing to get him going, and don't let the giant mess fool you - he didn't eat a single bite!!

Cake Smash ... {Durham Region Child Photographer}

OK, so ideally the concept of a Cake Smash session is for the child to eat some of the birthday cake that is entirely for them...all the while capturing every messy moment of the whole self feeding experience! (and moms get to keep their house clean since this all happens in my studio!!) However, I recently learned that not all babies like sweets. Take little F here for instance...he preferred to just paint with the icing and refused to taste any of it (although somehow managed to get a fair amount on his face by the end) As a mother of a couple of kids that would probably sell their souls for a piece of candy...this was a strange concept to me ;)

Ahhhh! I have been neglecting my blog a bit! Between the Baby Show, and sessions, and editing, throw in a bit of family time, and everyone catching the stomach flu, something had to fall to the bottom of the list, and the blog was it.
